Distance can be a major barrier to accessing quality healthcare promptly. For patients, access to air transportation can make all the difference in getting the treatment they need. However, flights can be expensive, and putting off medical care because of costs can put you or your loved ones at risk. That's where Angel Flight East comes in.

Welcome to Take Off Talk with Angel Flight East, a nonprofit that facilitates free air transportation for children and adults with medical conditions who need treatment far from home. Our organization covers a 14-state footprint from Virginia to Ohio to Maine and for further distances, we partner with other public benefit flying organizations.  No matter how many times you need to get to your medical treatment or see a loved one in need, we are here to help. Unfortunately, few people know about free services like ours, and thus cannot use them when needed. We don't know how many people forgo medical care because they don't have accessible transportation, and that's what this podcast is here to change.

In the heart of every challenge lies the potential for transformation. For Ken, a resilient soul navigating the turbulent waters of cancer, this transformation came through the compassionate wings of Angel Flight East (AFE). His story is a testament to the power of community, hope, and the unwavering spirit of service. 

The Call to Adventure

Ken's journey began with a daunting diagnosis: stage four prostate cancer compounded by Lynch syndrome, a genetic condition that predisposes him to various cancers. Despite the gravity of his situation, Ken's spirit remained unyielding. "I will leave the earth with cancer," he acknowledged, yet his resolve to fight was unwavering. The path was fraught with obstacles. Missteps in medical care led to a cascade of complications, pushing Ken to seek help beyond his local healthcare system. It was a journey not just of miles, but of courage and determination. 

Crossing the Threshold

Enter Angel Flight East, a beacon of hope in Ken's narrative. With the support of AFE's dedicated volunteer pilots, Ken was able to access the specialized care he needed at the Cleveland Clinic, far from his home in Cincinnati. "Through the generosity of our pilots and donors, we turn uncertainty into hope, one flight at a time," reflects the mission of AFE, and for Ken, this mission was life-changing. The flights, piloted by compassionate individuals like Scott Miller and David Talbert, were more than just a means of transportation. They were a lifeline, a bridge to healing. "It was a pure pleasure up and back," Ken recalls, highlighting the profound impact of these journeys. 

The Road of Trials

Ken's path was not without its trials. The medical procedures were complex, and the emotional toll was significant. Yet, through it all, the support from AFE and the camaraderie with the pilots provided a sense of community and belonging. "Together, we’re more than a nonprofit; we’re a family committed to lifting spirits and changing lives," embodies the spirit of AFE. 

The Return with Elixir

Today, Ken stands as a beacon of resilience and hope. His journey with Angel Flight East has not only provided him with the medical care he needed but has also rekindled his belief in the power of community and compassion. "It's the first time in four years I have felt like I've got some real future," Ken shares, a testament to the life-changing impact of AFE's mission. 

Ken's story is a reminder that in the face of adversity, we are never alone. With the support of organizations like Angel Flight East, every journey, no matter how challenging, can lead to healing and hope. "At Angel Flight East, we understand that every journey is unique, and every mile brings you closer to the care you deserve." In the end, Ken's journey is not just about overcoming cancer; it's about the transformative power of kindness, the strength found in community, and the hope that takes flight with every mission of Angel Flight East.

Employee Access, Training and Expectations -- Our organization values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.
  10. How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us using the contact form provided to you within the site structure of our website.
  11. Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, website traffic patterns and related website information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include personally identifying data, except as otherwise provided in this privacy policy.

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization please contact us.
